A pair of Democratic Congressmembers from the Central Coast are cruising toward re-election. In southern San Luis Obispo County and northern Santa Barbara County, Rep. Salud Carbajal is way ahead of his Republican opponent, Thomas Cole. In the north of SLO County, four-term Congressman Jimmy Panneta has a commanding lead over his rival, Republican Jason MIchael Anderson.

In the November election, San Luis Obispo’s North County voters will choose a congressional representative for California’s 19th district. This year incumbent Democrat Jimmy Panetta is running against Republican Jason Anderson. The district includes parts of Santa Clara, Monterey and San Luis Obispo Counties.

It’s been a tough year for California farmers, with heavy storms causing flooding and crop damage. Local advocates and elected officials are asking Congress to pass a disaster relief package for affected farmers.
