The City of Santa Maria is building a new Japanese Community Center. Its meant to honor Japanese migrants who helped develop the region’s agriculture.

It was built, owned and operated by Japanese Americans in the 1940s. Locals and the City of Guadalupe consider it to be historically significant to that community.
