Kat Orozco

Kat Orozco co-hosts Citizen Sound with Steve Jenkins every other Sunday night/Monday morning from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

She is a journalism student at Cal Poly with a strong passion for broadcast news and radio. Eager to gain experience in college radio, Kat joined Cal Poly's student station, KCPR, as a disc jockey and serves as the station’s Content Director.

Kat has an insatiable drive to discover new and emerging alternative music, and views radio as the perfect platform to spotlight rising talent while honoring the trailblazers who defined the genre. She became a member of the KCBX team to connect with the Central Coast and beyond. Kat believes that radio listeners are the heartbeat of the music world, and the connection between on-air hosts and their audience is both sacred and deeply personal.

Kat hopes to preserve this unique bond while also pouring into the local music scene by conducting artist interviews, hosting house shows, and making music of her own.
