The sections of Highway 101 near the Alisal Fire between Gaviota and Goleta reopened Thursday evening, though evacuation orders remain in effect.
That section of the freeway was closed for four days after the Alisal Fire erupted on Monday.
The fire remains at more than 16,000 acres with 5% containment.

The Alisal Fire is now at 16,801 acres with 5% containment, according to Santa Barbara County Fire.
Highway 101 remains closed in both directions between Hollister Ave and CA-1/Cabrillo Highway.
There is an evacuation order for the area west of Arroyo Hondo to intersection of Highway 101 and Highway 1, including Vista Del Mar School and Gaviota Beach. An evacuation order is still in effect for Arroyo Hondo Canyon, Refugio Canyon, and the area between El Capitan Beach State Park and West Camino Cielo.
There is also an evacuation warning for the area of Hollister Ranch and the area east of El Capitan Beach State Park, west of Dos Pueblos Canyon Rd, and south of West Camino Cielo.
The American Red Cross is supporting evacuees at the evacuation at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, and the Earl Warren Showgrounds are being used to house large animals.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Santa Barbara County Fire.
1,306 personnel have been assigned to the fire so far.
