The Cal Poly Music Department will host Mark Kroll for a lecture-demonstration titled “The Art of Musical Ornamentation” at 11:10 a.m. in Room 218 of Davidson Music Center. Kroll, a harpsichordist and Boston University professor emeritus, will explain how and why ornamentation has been utilized by a wide range of composers and theorists. He will also play examples and invite audience members to submit melodies that they would like for him to ornament.
