In San Luis Obispo, a hit-and-run crash recently took the life of a Cal Poly student, Kennedy Love. Love was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a car. The car fled the scene but a police investigation quickly located a suspect- a 17-year-old girl - who was identified this week as a Cuesta College student by the college’s campus newspaper, the Cuestonian

The man convicted of hitting and killing 27-year-old Mallory Dies last December as she crossed a street in Santa Barbara was sentenced to 20-years-to-life in prison Wednesday morning in a Santa Barbara County courtroom.

32-year-old Raymond Morua pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence while intoxicated as part of the plea agreement he made with prosecutors last month. He also admitted to fleeing the scene.

He received 15-years-to-life for the manslaughter charge, and an additional 5 years for fleeing.
