UPDATE: September 14, 2016 at 5:15 p.m.

The Coroner's Unit of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office released Wednesday the identity of the man found dead Tuesday at the base of the radio tower on the Cal Poly campus.

The tower is located at the corner of Highway 1 and Highland Drive in San Luis Obispo.

The man has been identified as 18-year-old Robert Sean Douglas Aversano of San Luis Obispo.

An autopsy was conducted Tuesday. The cause of death is listed as blunt force trauma. The manner of death is pending toxicology results. Investigators have ruled out foul play.

Original Story:

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday night that it is working to identify a young man whose body was found near the radio tower on the Cal Poly campus, just off of Highway 1 and Highland Drive.

A hiker discovered the body Tuesday around 12:15 p.m., according to a Sheriff's Office statement.

The victim is described as a white male in his early 20s who had no identification on him when he was found.

Investigators say there are unsure how the man died, but said Tuesday night that they don't believe foul play was involved.

The Sheriff's Office is urging the public to contact investigators at 805-781-4550 or Crime Stoppers at 805-549 STOP (549-7867) if they have any information on his identity.
