UCSB students want 'action' from Gov. Brown on educational finances

UC Santa Barbara students are supportive of Governor Brown's statement Monday on California higher education costs.

Brown said that he will not make California students the 'default financiers of colleges and universities.'

Ali Guthy is the President of Associated Students at UCSB. She says that the sentiment represents 'everything' that students want from the governor, but that students intend to hold him accountable.

"A lot of the students that I've spoken with are a little reserved when it comes to the governor's promises. And we really see these as words and we'll really be more grateful when they turn in to actions," said Guthy.

This comes after the University of California Board of Regents voted in November to adopt a resolution for up to a 5 percent spike in tuition for the next five years, unless the state gave the system more money.
