Travel for the 21st Century

Broadcast date: 12/11/2014

Travel is a major economic driver on the Central Coast, and it’s not surprising that with a steady growth in the industryACTION shows a consistent increase in travel spending over the past seven years. Now an important and beneficial new form of tourism for our County and the Country has arrived--Stewardship Travel.

Considered the next step in eco-tourism, this exciting new variety of travel helps people connect in a deeper, more meaningful way to people and places. The Stewardship Travel Program, sponsored by the County Tourism Business Improvement District (CBID), provides a valuable travel experience that makes a difference for both a region’s residents and its visitors by connecting travelers with activities and donation opportunities that help preserve and conserve a region’s cultural, historical, and natural areas while they are on vacation there.

What exactly is Stewardship Travel? How is it different than Eco-Tourism? How will Stewardship Travel benefit the Central Coast?

Join host Fred Munroe as he speaks with Di Strachan, Concept creator and Director for the new San Luis Obispo County Tourism Business Improvement District’s Stewardship Travel Program and a number of partners and leaders in the endeavor as they discuss the CBID’s valuable new Stewardship Travel program and its importance to the Central Coast.

Central Coast Voices is sponsored by ACTION for Healthy Communities in collaboration with KCBX.

Fred Munroe is a co-host of the KCBX talk show Central Coast Voices, heard every Thursday afternoon from 1:00-2:00. Fred has successfully divided his time as a local entrepreneur, political leader, and communicator. He owns and manages two local firms addressing personal travel planning and public transportation; Travel With Fred and Ridership Development Consultants.
