Templeton community continues support for injured high school football player

Jenny Lindsey: YouTube video still

The Templeton community is continuing to raise support for a seriously injured high school football player. Templeton High Junior Isaac Lindsey was injured during a game Friday night against San Luis Obispo High.

His family reports he is in a medically induced comma, but periodically awake for physicians to monitor his motor skills.

The campaign to cover Isaac Lindsey's medical expenses went live on Saturday with a goal of just $5,000, by Tuesday it was approaching $80,000.

Tanya Avery is a local teacher and mother to Lindsey's close friend. She started the campaign following the hospitalization and said she's in awe at the community's response to it.

She said Templeton's supportive community is an anomaly.

"The extension of a family [is] wherever you go here. Everybody is for each other. The boys go out on the football field and call each other brothers," said Avery.

In addition to the online campaign, a variety of other fundraisers are in the works, including a beneficiary account at Heritage Oaks Bank for those not comfortable with the online process.
