Supervision of sexually violent predator will continue for another year

A sexually violent predator living as a transient in Santa Barbara County will have his round-the-clock supervision extended for another year.

The Santa Barbara District Attorney's office announced Wednesday that 61-year-old Tibor Karsai will continue to receive monitoring through GPS, plus two guards provided through Liberty Healthcare.

Karsai has twice been convicted of rape, including one that took place in Santa Barbara in 1974. He was released to the county a year ago on a court ruling. He's been under 24-hour supervision since his release and lives in a motorhome.

A court review of Karsai's mental condition found that supervision should continue at least through April, 2015.
