Six Californias plan falls short in bid to qualify for 2016 ballot

The man behind the Six Californias initiative says he will work to prove the signatures collected were valid. This, in response to the state's denial today to place the proposition on the November ballot in 2016.

Billionaire Timothy Draper released a statement this afternoon saying he's confident a full check will confirm there were more than enough valid signatures.

The Secretary of State's office says the measure fell nearly 15000 valid voter signatures shy of triggering a full count, according to the Sacramento Bee. Draper says his team will investigate those signatures in question.

The Six Californias plan calls for breaking up the current state into six parts with San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles Counties making up the state of West California.
