San Luis Obispo County has more to spend in 2014-15

San Luis Obispo County's 2014-15 budget is set to take effect on July first and includes dozens of projects that will get additional money because there's more to spend.

Guy Savage, the Assistant County Administrative Officer, says the county collected nearly $5.8 million more than the previous year in a variety of taxes, showing a stronger economy.

"We've been going through what we call the 'seven year pain plan' and this is the first year that we're not in the pain plan anymore," said Savage. "This is a very exciting year for us."

The overall budget is $525 million, so the additional money represents more than a one percent increase.
