Is Our Family Court System Flawed?

Broadcast date: 11/13/2014

Some would say that our family court system is broken. There is a belief that courts are too focused on a 50/50 custody split and are no longer focusing on what is best for the children. With high conflict divorces on the rise, many would agree there is a lack of understanding within the judicial community of the often serious circumstances leading to these struggles and children are suffering due to the lack of education.

Advocates believe that through education of what leads to high conflict divorce, such as Narcissism and other personality disorders, they can change the Family Court System and better protect our children. What is a high conflict divorce? How is the family court system flawed? What is a Cluster B (Narcissist) personality disorder ?  What can be done to help protect the rights of the child?

Join host Fred Munroe as he speaks with Tina Swithin, author of “Divorcing a Narcissist: One Mom’s Battle” and Dr. Rebecca Davis Merritt, PhD in Clinical Psychology, former Associate Professor at Purdue University and board member at One Mom's Battle.  Tina survived a Category Five Divorce Hurricane and is now an advocate for change in the Family Court System after seeing the flaws first-hand, as well as coaches others who are navigating the court system.
