Opera San Luis Obispo (OperaSLO) is the region's only professional opera company, and one of only four Grand Opera companies in the state. Productions boast full orchestras, choruses, ballet, and original, complete sets and costumes. They do this by collaborating with other non-profit organizations that share their vision of artistic excellence. Their diverse events range from elegant and intimate recital series to exciting educational experiences and spectacular grand opera and musical theatre productions.
In May they will bring a spectacular Citywide Arts Collaboration grand production of the most famous musical ever written---Oklahoma! featuring new traditional sets and costumes, fantastic dance, and a nationally acclaimed cast led by baritone Gabriel Manro as Curly opposite soprano April Amante in the role of Laurey. This exciting production also involves the extraordinary talents of Central Coast Children's Choir, Civic Ballet San Luis Obispo, Deyo Dances, Studio @-Ryan's American Dance, and the Opera San Luis Obispo Grand Orchestra and Chorus. It is not to be missed!
Join Fred Munroe as he speaks with Dr. Brian Asher Alhadeff, Artistic Director and Conductor of Opera San Luis Obispo(SLO), County Superintendent of Schools, OperaSLO Board Member and tenor Dr. James Brescia, OperaSLO Resident Artist, soprano Amy Goymerac who is playing the role of Gertie in Oklahoma!, as well as baritone, and star of upcoming Oklahoma!, Gabriel Manro.
