Making Excellence Inclusive

In recent years, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, (Cal Poly) has made diversity one of its highest priorities. 

The concept of “Inclusive Excellence” was adopted by Cal Poly in 2009. The Inclusive Excellence initiative was designed to help colleges and universities fully integrate their diversity and educational quality efforts and embed them into the core of academic mission and institutional functioning.

Join host Fred Munroe as he speaks with Jean DeCosta, Interim Executive Director for the Office of University Diversity & Inclusivity, Kari Mansager, Program Director for the Office of University Diversity & Inclusivity, and Tyler Payton, Theater Arts Student and Performer in the Upcoming “OWN: PowHERful Voices of Storytelling”about how the university is strategically working to enhance the campus climate through embedding diversity and educational equity in all aspects of the university. They will discuss the upcoming Inclusive Excellence Month in May, a collaboration with more than 30 student organizations, campus departments and community agencies and explore the many the events, trainings and other opportunities the month has to offer.
