In November of 2016, Monterey County voters passed Measure Z. That's a citizen's initiative to ban hydraulic fracturing and limit new oil drilling within the county's borders. Seven other California counties have similar bans.
Now residents in San Luis Obispo County are hoping to qualify their own anti-fracking initiative for the November's ballot. KCBX's Greta Mart invited two leaders from Protect SLO County to the studio to learn more about the planned measure and what it hopes to accomplish.
