Some hotter than normal temperatures have arrived on the Central Coast and are expectd to peak this coming weekend. As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.
Richard Abrams with the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management says the agency works closely with public health and county fire at times like this.
"We stay in touch with county staff and make sure that we can, if we have to, coordinate staff to come into the emergency operation center in the event of a wildfire that causes significant damage or evacuations," said Abrams.
San Luis Obispo County's Office of Emergency Services is not issuing a specific advisory related to the weather but does encourage caution.
The forecast calls for temperatures to peak in the 80s at the beaches this weekend and reach into the low 100s in the warmer inland valleys.
This combination of hot weather, low humidity, time of year, and our prolonged drought make this an exceptionally dangerous fire period.
