Home prices see big jump on Central Coast and much of California

Randol White, KCBX News

Home prices are on the rise along the Central Coast according to the latest numbers reflecting the local real estate market.

The median home price in June for Santa Barbara County was $746,320 according to the California Association of Realtors (CAR). That's up 13.2 percent from June 2014.

For San Luis Obispo County, the median price in June was $534,650 up 6.2 percent.

Monterey County's numbers were unchanged year-over-year at $485,000.

CAR said sales statewide of existing, single-family homes in June reached the highest level in two years and experienced the first double-digit increase since May 2012.

"The median price of an existing, single-family detached California home edged up in June from both the previous month and year for the fifth consecutive month," the Association stated on its website.
