'Green Acres' star dies at Santa Barbara hospice

Actress Mary Grace Canfield, best known for her role as Ralph Monroe on the classic television sitcom Green Acres, died Saturday of lung cancer according to NPR and the Associated Press. Canfield was 89 years old.

Reports quoting her daughter, Montecito-based real estate agent Phoebe Alexiades, say Canfield died at a hospice located in Santa Barbara.

Aside from her 41 episodes as the Douglas Family's bedroom carpenter, the character actress portrayed several other roles, including Harriet Kravitz during the 1966 season of Bewitched. Harriet was the sister of Abner Kravitz and appeared during a period when the show was transitioning from Alice Pearce to Sandra Gould as Gladys Kravitz.

Canfield's last known entertainment credit was for a 1993 independent film titled Young Goodman Brown, according to her IMDb bio.
