Fire crews in Southern California are expecting full control sometime Tuesday of a major brush fire that erupted just north of Ventura on Christmas.
The Solimar Fire is now completely contained. It burned nearly 1,400 acres through industrial areas and the Solimar Beach communities.
Capt. Mike Lindbery is the Public Information Officer for the Ventura County Fire Department and said the Ventura area has not seen the rainfall parts of the Central Coast and Los Angeles have seen this year.
"There hasn't been enough moisture into the ground and the fuels to affect our vegetation and our fuel moisture levels are still at critical levels," he said.
Fire investigators say arcing power lines ignited the brush fire, which spread quickly with winds gusting up to 50 mph.
Capt. Lindbery says they are absolutely confident that under normal conditions the fire will not spread.
