Central Coast elementary teacher arrested on charges of child molestation

A Central Coast school teacher is facing charges of child molestation following the report of an incident at a Los Osos home this past winter.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office says 42-year-old Jeremiah Blackwell was arrested Tuesday on a charge of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.

Blackwell was a teacher at San Antonio Elementary School in Lockwood, a small town in southern Monterey County, west of Highway 101 between King City and Paso Robles.

Pam Hernandez is the San Antonio Union School District Superintendent and told KCBX that Lockwood is not teaching at this time.

"The teacher was placed on administrative leave," said Hernandez. "Following that, the information was brought to our families, we took steps to ensure our students' safety, and we removed the teacher from practice."

Hernandez said "everything from here on out" will be handled by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office said the crime did not involve a student of the school, nor did it happen on the campus. Investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying any other potential victims in this case by calling (805) 781-4500.
