Cal Poly SLO works to bring faculty salaries closer to system's averages

Cal Poly faculty members can expect a boost in salary, according to a letter sent out Thursday by President Jeffery Armstrong.

In it, he says $2.5 million will go into salary adjustments over the next several years. This includes $500,000 this fiscal year, followed by $1 million next year.

"Faculty and staff receiving increases this year will be notified by letter within the next few weeks," the letter states. "Faculty salary adjustments this year include bringing Assistant Professors up to a minimum target salary of $65,000; Associate Professors up to a minimum target salary of $71,000; and full Professors up to a minimum target salary of $83,000. We also addressed some of the most pronounced compression and inversion issues."

Armstrong said the adjustments are just a start to fixing the problem, as Cal Poly salaries are far below the State University system averages.
