Coach Joe Callero and his Cal Poly Mustang basketball team are breaking—or tying—records at every turn during the postseason.
Wednesday evening's 81-69 win over Texas Southern University at the UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio keeps the streak alive.
Here's a look at just some of the records Cal Poly has set in the postseason:
- First appearance in an NCAA Division I Tournament game
- First Division I postseason victory
- First No. 7 seed in the 39-year history of the Big West Tournament to beat a No. 1
- First No. 7 seed to win a semifinal game since Fresno State reached the 1991 final
Cal Poly's next match-up against Wichita State in St. Louis on Friday will likely prove more challenging. But, should the team succeed, the Mustangs will really shatter a record with that one. Currently, the success of a No. 16 seed versus a No. 1 seed is 0-116, according to ESPN.
