Boys & Girls Club of North SLO County

Broadcast date: 7/16/2015

Parents are often confronted with significant barriers to obtaining high quality child care. Among these obstacles are often low wages and high costs.

Quality of care varies greatly, and limited or unexperienced providers are frequently an issue. While many working families continue to struggle to afford the cost of care, a growing body of research shows that quality child care is important to the foundational development of children and their potential to thrive. Whether or not we help working parents in their struggle has the potential to impact our communities for years to come.

The Boys & Girls Club of North San Luis Obispo County has changed the lives of young people in our area for more than 22 years. They are working hard to reach even more children and to assist families throughout the community. They do this by providing a safe, supervised and affordable place for children to go every day after school. What is amazing is they do it for just $20 a year!

Join host Fred Munroe as he speaks with Kate Morgans, CEO with the Boys and Girls Club of North SLO County, Meghan Harris, Director of Education, as well as their Board President, Todd Evenson, as they discuss how they strive to provide high-quality programs beyond the school day to meet the academic, social and physical needs of local children and their plans for the future.
