The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department confirmed Monday evening the recovery of 22-year-old Isaiah Sanchez's body at Cachuma Lake. It was found about a hundred yards from where he was last seen going underwater on July 11.

A group of citizens on a rented pontoon boat spotted the body around noon, Monday and called 9-1-1, according to the sheriff's office.

The body was transported by boat to the shore where a positive identification of Sanchez was made.

The sheriff's department dive team and park rangers at the lake have been searching for the drowning victim, but had been hampered by murky waters.

Sanchez was on a boat that Friday evening with two other people when they had engine trouble. News reports say the Ventura County resident tried to swim to shore, but couldn't make it.

The cause of death is pending the completion of a coroner investigation, including an autopsy and toxicology report.
