Amgen Tour of California gears up for a sizzling Central Coast

The Amgen Tour of California hits the Central Coast Wednesday in the midst of a spring heat wave. Temperatures along much of the Stage 4 and Stage 5 routes could peak in the mid 90s.

Tuesday, participants rode the most difficult stage of the race which started in San Jose and then climbed two of the Bay Area's tallest mountains, Hamilton and Diablo. Australia's Rohan Dennis won the stage.

Wednesday morning, riders will start the day in Monterey, follow the coastline south through Big Sur and finish up in Cambria.

Jeff Hentges runs the Cambria Ale House and will be pouring craft beer at an after party in the village.

"It's very exciting, not only for the community, but just for the Amgen Tour bike riders as well to see Cambria in all it's glory, and we're all set up, ready to invite them into our community and have a great time," said Hentges. "I'm a bike rider myself, I'm looking forward to seeing the bike riders and just how the Amgen Tour proceeds through Cambria."

KCBX will have live reports from the end of Stage Four Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday's Stage 5 starts in Pismo Beach, swings through Arroyo Grande, and then heads over the San Marcos pass into Santa Barbara on Thursday evening.
