Fred Friedman

Host of Jazz Liner Notes

Fred Friedman has been a resident of the Central Coast since 1973.  He taught at Cal Poly in the College of Engineering for 25 years and retired in 2001 as Professor Emeritus.  He now has an ideal retirement job, working part time at Boo Boo Records in San Luis Obispo.  Fred was a member of the Pismo Beach Fire Department for 17 years and retired as the Assistant Fire Chief for the city.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the San Luis Obispo Symphony.  In addition, Fred volunteers with the San Luis Obispo Literacy Council tutoring adults in reading, writing and speaking English.

Jazz Liner Notes

Since 1980, Fred Friedman has enjoyed playing a wide variety of jazz from the '50s all the way up to the present, even playing a little blues, r&b, pop or other styles every now and then. He loves to hear from his listeners and playing requests.
