Patricia Willmott creates oil paintings. Sherry Andrews is a watercolor artist. Wilmott and Andrews first met in an art class over ten years ago. To this day, the two still enjoy painting together, side by side. Their distinctive individual styles offer complimentary views of the picturesque coastal landscape and the town where they live.
Pat Wilmott has loved creating “art” for as long as she can remember. As a child, she took a children’s art class at the California College of Arts and Crafts and sold her first drawing while still in high school. She continued her art education at Cal State Hayward and Santa Monica College taking classes in general art, drawing, life drawing, and printmaking. After moving to Delaware in 1976, Wilmott became a stained glass artist, showing and selling her work at craft shows for over 20 years. Returning to California and settling in Cambria rekindled her desire to paint. She is inspired by the beauty of the Central Coast and enjoys painting in oils en plein air. You will find her painting every Wednesday morning with Cambria's Wednesday Irregulars.
After living and working in Southern California most of her life, Sherry Andrews’ senses have been awakened in Cambria. Moving to the beautiful Central Coast has brought Andrews back to painting. Andrews believes the sights, sounds, touch, smells, and, yes, even the taste of the ocean, the forest and the fields are inspiring. Andrews credits the wonderful, kind and generous artists she has met through the Wednesday lrregulars and the Allied Arts Association for encouraging her artistic journey. Through the Cuesta College Emeritus program, Andrews has studied drawing with Larry LeBrane and watercolor with Diana Manseau and Joy Krull.
