In tribute to a rapidly vanishing ranch lifestyle, from the local landscape, Morro Bay Art Association is proud to present “Homage to the Ranches.” Artwork in this very special exhibit will depict the picturesque ranches, barns and rolling hills of San Luis Obispo County.
During the artist reception on May7th, we are fortunate to have Joan Sullivan, author of “Rounding Up the Ranches”, available for a book signing. Joan’s book is a compilation of historical ranches with facts and images of the Central Coast. Joan’s inspiration, was to preserve the history and beauty of these quickly vanishing ranches. Ms. Sullivan, a local resident, earned a BA degree from University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida and a Lifetime Teaching Credential from California State University at Northridge. Joan has been a reporter for local newspapers and magazines and authored several books. She taught art classes and founded the “Thursday Painters”, an informal adult group of artists who paint, on location en plein air (in the open air).
During this event, we are celebrating the beauty of San Luis Obispo County ranches. You will find paintings of rustic barns and scenic ranches by the “Thursday Painters” and artists from all over San Luis Obispo County.
