The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art presents Six Squared, an exhibition of traditional print media by the Central Coast Printmakers on view in the McMeen Gallery from April 7 – May 28, 2017.
There will be an opening reception for the exhibition from 6 – 9 PM on Friday, April 7 in conjunction with Art After Dark.
Artists were invited to create three 6 x 6 inch hand-pulled prints grouped in cohesive images that relate by color, printmaking method, and/or subject matter. These newly created, never-before exhibited artworks include a variety of traditional printmaking media. According to Ruta Saliklis, Director of Exhibitions at San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, the exhibition showcases the significance of printmaking as a medium in today’s culture. The prints in this exhibition, chosen from the talented Central Coast Printmakers, demonstrate the range and expression available to artists today.
