Arroyo Grande: This Saturday from 5 to 8pm a fundraiser to benefit Transitions Mental Health and Sponsored by Gulliver's Travel of San Luis Obispo and Uniworld Boutique River Cruises is held at Tiber Canyon Ranch in Arroyo Grande. The cost is $50.00 per person and the event is limited to 100 guests. Templeton: Tomorrow evening in Templeton there’s a fundraiser for the Templeton Recreation Foundation, a non-profit, raising funds for a community gym and continuing to develop local parks and walking paths. The event is called Wine and Fun Times, held from 5 to 8 pm at the Pomar Junction Winery in Templeton. For tickets: 805-434-4828.
The ticket price includes a chicken dinner, 5 wine tastes and live music by the Big Daddy's Blues Band. Bring a low-back chair, sit back and enjoy your Labor Day weekend with Templeton Recreation Foundation.

Shell Beach: This Sunday is Art in the Park at the Dinosaur Caves in Shell Beach, enjoy the day from 10am to 4pm,  overlooking the Pacific Ocean, viewing the work of craftsmen, art demonstrations, food & drink is available for purchase and of course there is live music, just off Hwy 101 in Shell Beach this Sunday.

SLO: The San Luis Obispo Art Museum offers a class in Street Painting on Saturday Sept 11th from 10am to 4pm. Learn the skills and confidence to do street painting. SLO & SB:  OCT 6, 7:30/OCT 8, 8:00pm:  The multi-talented Grammy and Emmy award-winning actor/comedian/musician and bestselling author Steve Martin visits the Central Coast in October for performances in both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara. Continuing to push his creative envelope, recently releasing a Grammy-winning, chart-topping bluegrass album, Martin is touring with the Steep Canyon Rangers, and presents music from "The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo." SLO: Tonight is the final summer Concert in the Plaza in San Luis Obispo. Big Daddy's Blues Band kicks off the music at 5:30 with their rhythm & blues, jazz tunes. Everyone is welcome for a community night of dancing, great music, food and fun at the Mission Plaza in downtown San Luis Obispo from 5:30 to 7:30. Aug 28: SLO: This Saturday and the Children’s Museum in San Luis Obispo offers a Family Art Day from 1 to 4 pm. You and your children are welcome to an afternoon of art activities for the entire fam­ily where you can work on projects together, laugh, play and learn in the Museum’s classroom all Saturday afternoon, with the theme of drawing. The instructional part of the day is called - Learn to See…a Still Life! Teacher Christine Roda introduces you to a variety of artistic techniques. All ages are welcome; children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $3 for Museum members, $5 nonmembers.

Morro Bay: This Friday and Saturday is the Dahlia Daze Festival, held at the Morro Bay Community Center, 1001 Kennedy Way. The event is sponsored by the Morro Bay Garden Club and the City of Morro Bay with this year’s them "Dancing Dahlias". The kick off event is Friday evening from 4 to 6 with a wine and cheese reception, featuring the current president of the National Dahlia Growers Society Kevin Larkin . On Saturday afternoon from 1 to 4 pm there will be hundreds of varieties of Dahlias, with plants available for sale, local artists’ paintings featuring floral designs, free home-made cookies and lemonade, guest speakers, and hundreds of cut dahlia specimens. Paso Robles: Saturday night at Vina Robles Winery in Paso Robles it’s British Invasion - A Tribute to the 60s British Rock & with a concert at 7:00 p.m featuring the band Unfinished Business, screenings of the Ed Sullivan Shows, an exhibit of British cars, and an auction of  Paso Robles wines at the magnum auction. 1960’s attire encouraged. Proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of SLO County. Bring your own low backed chair for lawn seating, food available for purchase is Ye Olde English Fish ‘n’ Chips $10/pp Ales & Vina Robles wines available for purchase. Los Osos/Baywood: This Sunday is the Annual Boatzart Festival from noon to 2pm in Baywood on Second Street. This is the eighth annual Baywood Navy concert in the Boatzart series, which is held at the pier in Los Osos. It is the only concert you can attend by land or by sea. There will be a 4.2 foot high tide at 12 noon. This year the concert features the loca l"Crustacean Jazz Band" with singers Marti Lindholm and Stephen McAndrew. Join the fun, launch your canoe, kayak or sailboat, or bring a lawn chair and a picnic to enjoy this festive event. The "Cookie Boats" with free cookies for all will be circulating as well. Sunday from noon to 2 pm.

Arroyo Grande: This Sunday the SLO County Band and the Gold Coast Chorus team up at the AG Village Summer Concert Series with an afternoon of Patriotic, Popular and Traditional songs. Join your friends at 1:00pm in the historic Arroyo Grande Village and enjoy another concert in this free Series presented by the Arroyo Grande Village Improvement Association and the City of Arroyo Grande Recreation & Maintenance Services Department. The Gold Coast Barbershop Chorus with about sixty male singers open the show.  Then it’s the SLO County Band -- celebrating its 136th birthday this year.  It traces its origins back to the "SLO Military Band", founded in 1874, today, men and women of all ages are part of the Band, including several husband-and-wife teams.  The SLO County Band is also be the Featured Nonprofit organization for this show. www.ArroyoGrandeVillage.org

SLO: Tonight at the Steynberg Gallery in San Luis Obispo you can enjoy authentic jazz with Cuesta College instructor Aaron Wolf on saxophone, LA drummer and composer Jason Harnell, Grammy nominated keyboardist Adam Benjamin – the great tunes begin at 8 pm at 1531 Monterey Street, near the corner of California Street.

SLO: the San Luis Obispo Library offers a free workshop on job hunting, taught by Kelly Andreson  and George Brusch, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the San Luis Obispo Library 2nd floor computer lab, 995 Palm Street in San Luis Obispo. This Saturday’s session is on the three stages of interviewing: preparing, executive and follow-up. Registration is required – please call (805) 781-5989 to reserve a place. Sessions will be limited to 15 persons. One-on-one assistance with follow-up on these sessions is available on most Tuesday evenings, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Reference Desk at the San Luis Obispo Library. Lompoc: "Rocknoceros"  is this Saturday, August 21 it’s a Free Children's Concert sponsored by the Library Foundation of the Lompoc Libraries. There are two performances at 10:30 in the morning & 1:00 PM at the Boys & Girls Club, 1025 W. Ocean, Lompoc. Preferred seating for this popular children's group may be secured by buying a meal ticket to breakfast or lunch. Breakfast is at 9:00 AM and lunch at 12 Noon. Each ticket is only $5 and available at Union Bank in Lompoc. This is a fundraiser for Charlotte's Web Children's Library, Lompoc. Rocknoceros is an exciting and lively three bandmate group who grew up in Northern Virginia. Coming to Lompoc as part of a West Coast tour, they are far from being a typical trio as they move among their little people audience making music with tambourine, guitars, mandolins, banjos, a kazoo and "piano-drum" promoting reading and libraries. Arroyo Grande: This Saturday everyone is invited to celebrate canine companions by participating in “Puttin’ on the Dog,” a benefit for the Elm Street Dog Park in Arroyo Grande.
The dog-friendly happening is co-sponsored by the Five Cities Dog Park Association and the Arroyo Grande Parks and Recreation Department, it starst with a Pooch Parade open to all dogs and their pet people.  The benefit includes four dog contests (Cutest Dog, Best Dressed Dog, Dog-Owner Look-Alike, and Most Talented/Best Dog Trick) with high quality prizes for the winners, there are vendors, dog agility and dog first-aid safety demonstrations, dog adoptions, low cost vaccinations and microchipping, the AKA Canine Good Citizenship Test, a bounce house for the youngsters, a raffle with great chances to win, local veterinarians, ice cream and a tri-tip barbecue lunch. All well-behaved dogs (and owners) are invited to participate in the fair beginning at 9 a.m. with the Pooch Parade and end with a Best in Show award at 1 p.m. Because the event is outside the actual Elm Street Dog Park, dogs will have to be on a leash.  Pre-registration is encouraged since participation in such events as the barbecue, raffle and citizenship test is limited. This is a fundraiser for a dog park that was built and is maintained entirely by volunteer donations. All donations are 100 percent tax deductible.

Avila: Every Labor Day Weekend, the San Luis Obispo Symphony turns a golf course into a concert hall for a family-friendly, community concert event that has become a Central Coast tradition. On Sunday, September 5th, the San Luis Obispo Symphony presents "Pops a la Playa!"  and features Brazilian singer and guitarist Teka at the Avila Beach Golf Resort. Gates open at 2:30 pm with a pre-concert family festival and the concert begins at 4 pm. For tickets: Symphony office at (805) 543-3533.
