8:00 PM Música Del Río House Concerts presents Corinne West
    Contact: Fred Munroe   466-6941   fmunroe@kcbx.net
We are opening our new series with one of our favorite female balladeers. While Corinne's name may not be a household word in your home, her music fills our home everyday. We are very happy that Corinne has decided to be the premier voice at Música Del Río. The sidemen joining her, "The Posse", bring a blend to Corinne's music that will make this a very memorable night. From the open meadows of California's Sierras, Corinne West spins tales with a part velvet and part grit voice that is both achingly penetrating and highly addictive. Her music has a cool, layered, yet driven sound and has been referred to as "radiant", "extraordinarily beautiful", and "utterly spell-binding" by reviewers world-wide. Música Del Río is a gathering of friends to enjoy fine acoustic music performers in our living room. With room for about 60 friends, singer-songwriters find house concerts to be a joyous way to share the art of their craft. 100% of the donations you make to attend this event go to the performers. We do this for the love of music, the love of friends to share it with and the love of opening our front door to make it happen. Suggested Donation is $15.00 (at the door)100% goes to the musicians. Call or email to be receive further information or receive an invitation.

A Time for Giving: Letters of Hope

Our Local Amnesty International Group joins other groups across the world spreading messages of hope to human rights defenders and to people imprisoned around the world solely because of their beliefs, identity, religion or ethnic origin. We join together to assure these human rights defenders and prisoners of conscience that they have NOT been forgotten! Taking a little time out of your holiday preparation and send a Holiday Card to provide a powerful Ray of Hope for those who are being persecuted. It costs only a little of your time!

Join us at 6 pm, Wednesday, December 20th at the SLO City/County Library, 995 Palm St., SLO. We will be showing a short Introductory DVD about Amnesty International (30min.) at 6:30pm and one on Extraordinary Rendition (30 min.) at 8pm. We will have Holiday Card for you to send to nine prisoners of conscience. There will be sharing of food and time to network. If you do not have much time, we invite you to just drop by for what ever time you have and send a Holiday Card.

Thirteen of the prisoners featured in last year’s Holiday Card Action by Amnesty International were subsequently released from prison. They all speak of the power received from knowing others were working for and thinking of them. Amnesty International is a worldwide grassroots movement that promotes and defends human rights.
